Crape Myrtle: This picture was taken January 14, 2010 about 1 week after a hard freeze and several nights of frost. Don't be alarmed. This is the normal winter state of this plant. It is a summer bloomer and typically looks just like this during any winter. It is not damaged by our winter freeze and frost periods. You may want to prune this plant in February to maintain a certain size or shape or to promote a fuller canopy. Note the dying ginger plants just behind this Crape Myrtle.
